Diet Information - What's the Best Weight Loss Program?

No "Normal Weight" - Just a Healthy Weight Range

There's really no such thing as a "normal weight". Each of us is different. We have different genes, a different metabolism, a different lifestyle - we may even have a different culture. Consequently, a "normal weight" is impossible to establish.

However, we can quantify a "healthy weight." A healthy weight is simply a weight RANGE that is statistically related to good health. A healthy weight corresponds to a Body Mass Index of 20-25. Overweight is BMI 25-30. Obesity is BMI 30+.

To say someone is overweight or obese means that their weight falls into a weight category that is associated with higher risk of (e.g.) heart disease and hypertension.

Healthy Weight Range

For details, see weight chart, below. Typically, men should be in the upper weight range for their height; women in the lower.
