What is Vitamin B6?

Also called pyridoxine, vitamin B6 is a water soluble micronutrient, sometimes called the anti-depression vitamin. The more protein we eat, the more pyridoxine we need. Also, pyridoxine works best with vitamins B1, B2, Pantothenic acid (B5), C and magnesium.

Functions of Vitamin B6 in Diet

Essential for the proper absorption of vitamin B12, and for the efficient removal of excess homocysteine (a danger for heart disease) which is an amino acid bi-product of high protein diets, pyridoxine plays a major role in producing antibodies and white blood cells that constitute our immunity and anti-infection defences.
