What is Manganese?

An essential trace element, or mineral, manganese is concentrated in the skeleton, liver, kidneys and heart. The body of an average adult contains 12-20mg of manganese, and loses about 4mg per day.

Functions of Manganese in Diet

It helps to activate enzymes, essential for the body's proper use of biotin, vitamin B1 and vitamin C, and contributes to a wide range of body processes involving bone health, growth, hormone action and the central nervous system.
