Weight Loss PatchesThere are several different brands of skin patches with different ingredients (e.g. seaweed extract). However the process is the same in each case. You apply the patch (e.g.) to your arm and absorb the contents over (e.g.) 24 hours. You repeat this for several weeks. The manufacturers claim that these patches assist weight loss. Do Weight Loss Patches Work?We have not seen any clinical evidence that this type of skin-patch or dermatological technology is effective for weight loss. Indeed, given the huge surge in obesity, we are surprised that doctors and obesity drug companies are not recommending patches to patients who need to lose weight - unless of course patches don't help weight reduction. UK Authorities Warn Against PatchesBoth government and consumer organisations in the UK have issued warnings to dieters to beware using patches in order to lose weight, claiming that these products are ineffective if not actually fraudulent. Point is, most obesity experts consider the use of weight loss patches to be completely ineffective unless used in conjunction with a calorie-controlled diet and increased physical activity. Even then, the resulting weight loss is likely to be caused by calorie restriction not the patches. Bottom LineTo the best of our knowledge, there is no clinical evidence to support the idea that patches assist weight loss. Still Want to Try Patches?
