New Beverly Hills Diet - Overview

The Beverly Hills diet is a food combining diet that relies heavily on fruits. According to the diet, papaya softens body fat, pineapple burns it off and watermelon flushes it out of the body.

Judy Mazel, actress and founder of the diet plan, promises not only that you'll lose weight, but that you'll be "skinny." The problem is she chooses a slightly different way of combining foods - there are days where all you can eat are grapes; on other days you can only have melon.

According to WebMD:

"Several diets make claims about combining or separating certain foods, eating certain foods because of their special properties... Unfortunately, there are no such easy ways to lose weight. Combining foods in certain ways does not change their energy (calorie) content..."

The New Beverly Hills diet is a very unbalanced way of eating and I could find no diet or nutritional experts that would back it up. Nor was I able to come up with one person that has found this a diet that they stayed on long term.

New Beverly Hills Diet - Drawbacks

  • Hard to live on one food each day.
  • Monotonous and unhealthy. Too much fruit - not only is this diet plan monotonous, but also it results in an inadequate intake of protein and fat, as well as iron, zinc, vitamin B-12, calcium and essential fatty acids.
  • Weight loss is hard to maintain.
  • Doesn't teach you how to eat properly.

New Beverly Hills Diet - Summary

  • Not recommended. Food-combining diet plans are not established as an effective weight loss method.
  • The diet may be unbalanced and if so - not a long-term option.
  • The New Beverly Hills diet will appeal to dieters who prefer unproven methods of losing weight.
