Diet Rules: How to Maintain Your Motivation To Lose WeightOnce you have an incentive to boost your diet motivation, your next step is to make it easy for yourself to stay motivated. So before starting a new diet follow these rules. Diet Rule 1. Take your Body MeasurementsNo matter how good your weight loss diet may be, or how closely you follow your eating plan, there will be some weeks when you lose no weight at all. (ugh!) This type of "diet-disaster" can destroy your motivation to lose weight UNLESS you can demonstrate progress in other areas. Taking your key body measurements before you start dieting can help you achieve this. Why? Because very often, although our bathroom scales may register a zero weight loss, we may have lost inches around our bust, waist or hips. But in order to know (eg) if we've reduced our waist circumference, we need to know what it was to begin with! So: before you start any weight loss plan, measure your bust, waist, hips as well as your upper arms and thighs. Then, when you lose no weight one week on your diet, you may find you've succeeded in improving your body shape. And this success will boost your motivation to keep chasing your weight loss goals. Diet Rule 2. Check How Your Clothes FitLike taking your measurements, checking how your clothes fit will increase your diet motivation when weight loss slows. Here's what to do. Before you begin your weight reduction program, select several different clothes or outfits which don't quite fit you. Then, every two weeks of your diet, try on these tight clothes and see if the fit improves. Neither of these diet tips are rocket science, but you'd be amazed how many dieters fail to take these elementary steps to boost their weight loss motivation. |
